15-07-2004 14 July 2004: after 50 years, Lino Lacedelli returns to K2 50 years on, Lino Lacedelli returns to the the foot of the mountain of his life; a meeting, by no means easy, which he intensely desired. Together with his Scoiattoli he saluted his friend and expedition companion Mario Puchoz, who died tragically during the successful K2 expedition in 1954. Lino Lacedelli is now on his way back home, after having left a profound mark, and unforgettable emotions, in all the Scoaittoli currently attempting to climb the Great mountain.
14-07-2004 Movement at altitude... Acclimatisation continues on K2: from Sunday to Tuesday Renzo Benedetti, Marco Anghileri and Marco Da Pozzo reached Camp 3 and spent the night there, and moved on towards the shoulder of K2. 09-07-2004 News from K2 Base Camp, snowed under. It's snowing and all mountaineers, including Marco Anghileri, are back in BC. lino Lacedelli should arrive in a couple of days time.
08-07-2004 Broad Peak summit for Mario Dibona! The Scoiattoli reach C3 on K2! The ascent is proceeding according to plan: Mario Dibona has reached the summit of Broad Peak, his 4th 8000m peak. In the meantime, Mario Lacedelli, Renato Sottsas and Marco Sala continue to climb the Abruzzi Spur and have reached Camp 3 (7350m).
07-07-2004 With Renzo Benedetti between Camp 1 and Camp 2 The Scoiattoli, after a few enforced rest days due to bad weather, are getting ready for the higher camps. Once again they will climb past ABC, Camp 1 and Camp 2 to push further upwards and establish Camp 3.
05-07-2004 Raging storm, but acclimatising continues Despite bad weather the Scoiattoli continue their acclimatisation program, which is fundamental for when the weather improves. Marco Anghileri, Renzo Benedetti and Marco Da Pozzo spend the night at Camp 2.
A weak ridge is situated over Afghanistan. It may at times affect the K2-area during the first days giving only risk of occasional showers. Then it seems to become more unsettled with frequent showers due to lows over Kashmir and Tibet.
