Forecast K2 24-28/06/2004
Several troughs will pass the K2-area giving unsettled weather and quite a lot of showers. Somewhat drier conditions late in the period.
Jet:
Starting with no jet in the K2-area. However, from Friday on a westerly jet will from Afghanistan move in over northern Pakistan and Kashmir. The jet core seems to pass just south of K2, but will probably come very close to K2 on Sunday.

Summit:
9000 m: About southwest 10-15 m/s, from Friday 15-20 m/s. On Sunday may increase 20-25 m/s.
7500 m: South-southwest 5-10 m/s, during the weekend at times 15 m/s.

Weather:
Several troughs will pass the K2-area giving unsettled weather and quite a lot of showers. Somewhat drier conditions late in the period.

WEATHER

A weak ridge is situated over Afghanistan. It may at times affect the K2-area during the first days giving only risk of occasional showers. Then it seems to become more unsettled with frequent showers due to lows over Kashmir and Tibet.
