Forecast K2 21-25/07/2004
A trough will pass eastwards Wednesday over the K2-area giving unstable weather and quite a lot of showers. Then somewhat drier conditions but still risk of some showers. From Friday a ridge is approaching from Afghanistan and giving mainly dry weather. In the end of the period a small trough is approaching and giving some local showers.
Jet:
No jet in the K2-area.

Summit:
9000 m: Southwest 15-20 m/s. Wednesday and Thursday somewhat dropping. From Friday northwest around 20 m/s.
7500 m: Southwest 5-10 m/s. From Friday turning to west-northwest and in the end of the period increasing.

Weather:

A weak ridge is situated over Afghanistan. It may at times affect the K2-area during the first days giving only risk of occasional showers. Then it seems to become more unsettled with frequent showers due to lows over Kashmir and Tibet.
