Wind on K2... and Lino Lacedelli marches towards Base Camp
Strong winds halt work on the mountain, but all is going according to plans. Lino Lacedelli is close to K2.
Base Camp K2 - Saturday 3 July 2004
The weather has changed a bit, at Camp 2 they tell us that the wind is strong and because of this work on Camp 3, due for completion today, has been slowed down to a halt.
late yesterday afternoon we managed to get in touch with Paol Tassi, the Mountain Guide in charge of the trekking, which will bring Lino Lacedelli to the base of K2 for the second time, at the incredible age of 79. In the first section of the trek he was welcomed festively by the Pakistani authorities.
Lino and the rest of the trekkers are in good health, they are doing the same stages as we did and should arrive here on 8 July. We're waiting for them here, and looking forward to giving them all a big hug!
Bye from and to all! Giuseppe Ghedina

A weak ridge is situated over Afghanistan. It may at times affect the K2-area during the first days giving only risk of occasional showers. Then it seems to become more unsettled with frequent showers due to lows over Kashmir and Tibet.
