The four Scoiattoli summiters are resting at Camp 3. Mario Lacedelli and Luciano Zardini will head for the summit at 24.00 local time, and the two Scoiattoli will be joined by 4 Swiss mountaineers, including Kari Kobler and 4 high altitude porters.
After having reached the summit, Mario Dibona descended to Camp 3, while Marco Da Pozzo, Renato Sottsass and Renzo Benedetti are at Camp 4, together with Mario Lacedelli and Luciano Zardini who, tonight, will make their summit bid.
Base Camp K2 - Monday 27 July 2004
The four mountaineers who touched the 8611m high summit this morning are still on the mountain and in Camp 3. Mario Dibona and Renato Sottsass are in good form, while Marco Da Pozzo and Renzo Benedetti are fairly tired, but they can now rest and recuperate for the descent tomorrow.
K2 is illuminated oncce agan this evening by the magical starlight. it will be our backdrop for another long night waiting: the second group, including Mario Lacedelli and Luciano Zardini, will make their bid at around midnight tonight, and they will be joined by 4 Swiss mountaineers, including the expedition leader Kari Kobler, and three high altitude porters.

A weak ridge is situated over Afghanistan. It may at times affect the K2-area during the first days giving only risk of occasional showers. Then it seems to become more unsettled with frequent showers due to lows over Kashmir and Tibet.
